Church Street BBQ on Northgate next door to La Bodega and across from Cafe Eccell. Construction starts in the morning and should be done in May. We are having a groundbreaking BBQ on Saturday from 11 am until 4pm, everyone is welcome to attend! Our website should be up tomorrow http://www.churchstreetbbq.com or http://www.facebook.com/churchstreetbbq[This message has been edited by AlexBLong (edited 2/8/2010 11:47p).]

I work for Sun Builders Co. We recently built both Target stores, Best Buy , and the Bed bath and beyond strip center in Bryan/College Station. Besides the Tower Point Large development can someone please tell me who the developer is on the other two Large Multi Use developments. Thanks!

Im excited about church street. Ive had that they have heard alot of trouble with cocs over permitting and what not. Can anyone confirm this, and possibly enlighten me a bit more?

the permitting could have been challening cause they have 0 parking.
I also heard from an engineer that they have no method for sanitation because they have no room for a dumpster. They apparently have to tote it down the block to the central northgate dumpster.
yikes.... Could they not work out a deal with la bodega? And there are few places on northgate with ample parking.
My hunch is that the Highland development will be done by these guys. http://www.hermansenlanddevelopment.com/The other appears to be an expansion of Centerpoint so I'd presume the same developers as you worked with for the Target.

Does anybody know what's going in on the NW corner of Hwy 40 & Arrington (behind the HEB development site)? They have poured a pad, but do not have any signs that I could see.

A bank and a Scott & White Clinic are going there. I think they are working on the clinic presently.

We did not have any specific "problems" per se with the permitting. The northgate standards are fairly strict, and were not written with a location that faces 2, much less 3, right of ways. While the process seemed lengthy, we submitted at the same time as Taco Cabana, so relatively we really aren't behind at all. Matt Robinson in the planning department went above and beyond to get the building pushed through.
We will not have a dumpster on the premises, nor do any of the bars and restaurants on Northgate. There are a few dumpsters that are close by us, and the use of at least one of them will be secured long before we open.
The parking standards do not allow us to put parking in front of the building, but the Coyote parking lot is only a few hundred feet away. The walk from directly behind the chicken takes around 3 minutes, so hopefully we can prove the food is good enough to make the short trip!

bcstx06 - Could you be sure to put a date added or bold the new stuff once more info comes in? It would definitely help in the future.

^Ok. Give me until this weekend though to get everything set up right.

You put quotes around "problems" but im going to apologize for the city i live in. I hope you manage to open so I can patronize you regularly. It is a prayer of mine that i can help vote out all that gave you "issues" in allowing you to open your business.

I noticed on the New Quest site under College Station that the Kirkland's space is available. Is Kirkland's going out of business or maybe they are just moving, any info on that? Thanks.

Just to give an update....the HEB Tower Point deal is completed!!! Oldham Goodwin is partnering with Weiner Development to lease in-line retail and sale pad sites. Give them a call if you are interested in Tower Point. Construction will start Friday or early next week at the latest! HEB should open September/October 2010.

ag2max-Kirklands is closing the store on University..actually they are just not renewing their lease so not going out of business necessarily. I do not believe they are going to remain the market.

No! Are you sure about this?

My wife won't be happy about this.

I think that kind of store may thrive more in a mall setting. I like Kirklands, and have been in many of them in various malls. It never occurs to me to go there at their current location.
Do the current Tower Point plans still look pretty much like this?
Actually the preliminary plat for Tower Point was pulled from the Weiner Development site some time ago. I suppose it's being updated. Here's the original plat posted some time ago.

NNNNOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! Kirklands can't be closing.....geez where will I spend my money now? This had to be my MOST favorite store...even my hubby liked it cuz he could take the kids and go sit at Starbucks while I spent many hours shopping and browsing in this place....oh dear, I feel depression coming on....please tell me this ain't true.....
